Es begann mit einem einfachen Beep
1974 wurde in den USA das erste Mal in einem Supermarkt ein Barcode auf einer Packung Kaugummis gescannt. Dies war der Anfang des automatisierten Kassierens – und der Beginn der Erfolgsgeschichte von GS1, von Global Standards One.
Mittlerweile werden GS1 Barcodes täglich über sechs Milliarden Mal gescannt und sind der universelle Standard im internationalen Handel. Unsere 24 Standards in über 20 Branchen bilden die globale Sprache für effiziente und sichere Geschäftsprozesse, die über Unternehmensgrenzen und Kontinente hinweg verstanden wird.
It started with a simple beep
In 1974, a barcode on a pack of chewing gum was scanned for the first time in a supermarket in the USA. This was the beginning of automated checkout - and the start of the success story of GS1, of Global Standards One.
GS1 barcodes are now scanned over six billion times a day and are the universal standard in international trade. Our 24 standards in over 20 industries form the global language for efficient and secure business processes that are understood across company boundaries and continents.
