Der GS1 Digital Link verknüpft die physische mit der digitalen Welt, sodass er die Basis für den Informationsaustausch zwischen Hersteller, Handelspartner und Endkunden bildet. Wichtig in diesem Zusammenhang: alle bisher verwendeten Produktinformationen, wie GTIN und andere Merkmale behalten auch weiterhin ihre Gültigkeit. Der große Vorteil besteht darin, dass zu vielen Services und Informationen verlinkt werden kann.
SecIdent ist primär eine innovative Lösung zum Produkt- und Fälschungsschutz. Dabei werden mit Hilfe der Serialisierung für jedes Produktexemplar einmalige und fälschungssichere Serialcodes erzeugt. Jedes Produkt wird damit einzeln identifizierbar und bietet so einen wirksamen Schutz gegen Produktpiraterie. Über dieses identifizierende Merkmal stehen mit SecIdent auch weitere Funktionalitäten, wie Graumarktanalysen und Market Intelligence zur Verfügung. Die Einbettung des Serialcodes in einen QR-Code erlaubt eine Echtzeitprüfung ohne spezielle Hard- oder Software und kann ganz einfach und schnell z.B. über ein Smartphone erfolgen. So kann im QR Code von GS1 Digital Link der Zugang zur Software SecIdent mit eingebunden werden. Mit einem QR-Code ist damit die bisherige Produktidentifikation gegeben sowie alle oben geschilderten Funktionalitäten der Software SecIdent.

The GS1 Digital Link links the physical world with the digital world, so that it forms the basis for the exchange of information between manufacturers, trading partners and end customers. Important in this context: all previously used product information, such as GTIN and other characteristics, remain valid. The big advantage is that it can be linked to many services and information.
SecIdent is primarily an innovative solution for product and counterfeit protection. With the help of serialization, unique and counterfeit-proof serial codes are generated for each product copy. Each product is thus individually identifiable and offers effective protection against product piracy. SecIdent also provides further functionalities such as gray market analyses and market intelligence via this identifying feature. Embedding the serial code in a QR code allows real-time verification without the need for special hardware or software and can be done very easily and quickly, e.g. via a smartphone. Thus, access to the SecIdent software can be included in the QR code of GS1 Digital Link. With a QR code, the previous product identification is thus given as well as all the functionalities of the SecIdent software described above.
