Zwei Entwickler, dasselbe Produkt

Batteriepasswerk ist durch einen Zufall entstanden. Mein Mitgründer und ich hatten monatelang unabhängig voneinander dieselbe Software gebaut, ohne voneinander zu wissen. Als wir es beim Austausch über ein ganz anderes Thema gemerkt haben, stand die Entscheidung schnell fest: zusammenlegen statt konkurrieren.

Wir sind beide Softwareentwickler und bauen das Produkt selbst. Keine Agentur dazwischen, kein zugekaufter Baukasten.

Dass zwei Leute unabhängig voneinander an derselben Sache arbeiten, ist selten ein Zufall. Meistens heißt es, dass das Problem echt ist.

Das Problem, an dem wir arbeiten

Am 18. Februar 2027 tritt eine Pflicht in Kraft, die viele Unternehmen noch unterschätzen. Ab diesem Tag darf in der Europäischen Union keine Industriebatterie über zwei Kilowattstunden, keine Antriebsbatterie und keine Batterie für leichte Verkehrsmittel mehr ohne digitalen Batteriepass in Verkehr gebracht werden. Grundlage ist die Batterieverordnung (EU) 2023/1542.

Der Pass gilt nicht pro Modell, sondern pro Seriennummer. Und die Angaben, die hineingehören, liegen im Unternehmen selten an einer Stelle. Die Zusammensetzung steht in den Konstruktionsunterlagen, die Herkunft der Zellen kennt der Einkauf, Seriennummern und Herstelldaten liefert die Fertigung, Prüfwerte kommen aus dem Labor. Nachweise über Rezyklatanteile hat oft niemand.

Bei tausend Batterien im Jahr sind das tausend Datensätze, die stimmen müssen. Und beim nächsten Modellwechsel beginnt die Sammelei von vorn.

Was wir anbieten

Batteriepasswerk ist eine Webanwendung, die diese Pässe erzeugt und dauerhaft bereitstellt. Der Ablauf in vier Schritten:

• Modell anlegen mit allen festen Angaben einer Baureihe. Ein geführtes Formular zeigt, welche Pflichtfelder noch fehlen.
• Lieferantendaten einholen über einen Link, in den der Zulieferer seine Angaben selbst einträgt, auf Deutsch, Englisch oder Chinesisch. Ohne Konto bei uns.
• Seriennummern importieren als CSV aus ERP oder MES, mit Vorschau und Prüfung vor dem Import.
• Codes ausgeben für die Etikettierung, einzeln oder als Druckbogen.

Dazu kommen Zertifikatsverwaltung mit Ablauferinnerung, abgestufte Zugriffe für Recycler und Behörden, eine manipulationssichere Änderungshistorie und ein Audit-Log über alle Aktionen im Konto.

Für wen wir arbeiten

Unsere Kunden sind Hersteller, die Batterien unter eigener Marke in den EU-Markt bringen, und Importeure, die als Inverkehrbringer für den Pass haften, ohne die Produktionsdaten ihres Lieferanten zu besitzen. Für diese zweite Gruppe ist das Lieferantenportal meist der entscheidende Baustein.

Wir richten uns bewusst auch an mittelständische Unternehmen, die für ein Compliance-Thema keine eigene Entwicklungsabteilung abstellen können.

• Keine Anbieterbindung. Ihre Daten bleiben exportierbar, so wie die Verordnung es verlangt.
• Hosting in der Europäischen Union, Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag nach Artikel 28 DSGVO liegt bei.
• Ehrliche Auskunft. Wo unsere Umsetzung an Grenzen stößt, sagen wir es im Produkt, statt es zu verschweigen.

Batteriepasswerk came about by chance. My co-founder and I had been building the same software for months, independently of one another, without knowing about each other. When we realized this while discussing a completely different topic, the decision was quickly made: to join forces rather than compete.

We're both software developers, and we're building the product ourselves. No agency involved, no off-the-shelf solution.

It's rarely a coincidence when two people are working on the same thing independently of each other. Most of the time, it means the problem is real.

The problem we're working on

On February 18, 2027, a requirement will take effect that many companies still underestimate. As of that date, no industrial battery with a capacity exceeding two kilowatt-hours, no powertrain battery, and no battery for light-duty vehicles may be placed on the market in the European Union without a digital battery passport. This requirement is based on the Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.

The certificate applies not per model, but per serial number. And the information required for it is rarely stored in a single location within the company. The composition is specified in the design documents; the purchasing department knows the origin of the cells; serial numbers and manufacturing dates are provided by production; and test results come from the laboratory. Often, no one has documentation regarding the recycled content.

With a thousand batteries a year, that's a thousand data entries that have to be accurate. And when the next model comes out, the data collection process starts all over again.

What We Offer

Batteriepasswerk is a web application that generates these passes and makes them permanently available. The process consists of four steps:

• Create a model with all the fixed specifications for a product series. A guided form shows which required fields are still missing.
• Retrieve supplier data via a link where the supplier enters their own information in German, English, or Chinese—no account with us required.
• Import serial numbers as a CSV file from ERP or MES, with a preview and validation before import.
• Generate codes for labeling, either individually or as a print sheet.

In addition, the system includes certificate management with expiration reminders, tiered access rights for recyclers and government agencies, a tamper-proof change history, and an audit log of all actions performed in the account.

Who We Work For

Our customers include manufacturers who sell batteries under their own brand in the EU market, and importers who are liable for the Pass as the entity placing the product on the market, but who do not have their supplier’s production data. For this second group, the supplier portal is usually the key component.

We also deliberately target medium-sized companies that cannot dedicate their own development department to a compliance issue.

• No vendor lock-in. Your data remains exportable, as required by the regulation.
• Hosting in the European Union; a data processing agreement in accordance with Article 28 of the GDPR is included.
• Honest disclosure. Where our implementation reaches its limits, we state this clearly in the product description rather than concealing it.
